Anatomical Alignment
What is Jaw Alignment?
Jaw alignment refers to the correct positioning of the upper jaw (maxilla) and lower jaw (mandible). When both jaws fit together properly, they allow you to bite comfortably, chew food efficiently, speak clearly, maintain healthy jaw joints (TMJ), and achieve balanced facial symmetry.
When the jaws are not properly aligned, it is known as jaw misalignment or malocclusion, which may affect both oral function and facial aesthetics.
Why Correct?
Why Jaw Alignment is Important
Correcting jaw alignment offers several critical health benefits:
- Chewing Efficiency: Distributes chewing force evenly, reducing wear.
- Improved Speech: Proper alignment enhances tongue posture and speech clarity.
- Reduced TMJ Pain: Eliminates stress on jaw joints and muscles, preventing clicking and lockjaw.
- Better Oral Hygiene: Makes brushing and flossing easier, reducing decay risk.
- Facial Harmony: Enhances chin projection and facial balance.
